Live your passion this summer! The Proctors Collaborative presents the opportunity of the summer! Broadway professionals instruct students in every aspect of producing a full-scale show from onstage, behind the scenes, and in the pit orchestra-skill building workshops, rehearsals for hands-on training and ensemble work culminating in performances on the MainStage at Proctors. Hone your talents onstage or offstage with our experienced faculty alongside fellow student artists.

Character Creation

Dates: July 8–12 | 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Ages: 10–13
Tuition: $275
Location: Guild Room at Proctors
Experience: Introductory

This one-week camp will allow you to create characters through costumes, hair and makeup.  Students will explore character creation through drawing, construction, craft making and building costumes, along with hair styling and wigs and makeup design and application.  The final day will be a culmination of the creative skills and techniques learned during the week.

Students will take home items created in class and create a portfolio of designs.

Stage and Special FX Make-Up

Dates: July 15–19 | 1–4:30 p.m.
Ages: 11–14
Tuition: $200 + $40 Materials Fee
Location: MainStage Dressing Rooms at Proctors
Experience: Introductory

Presented by THE COSTUMER

This fun, hands-on exploration of the world of stage makeup includes a variety of themes and styles, including age and character make-up, scars and special effects. Students will experiment with the fundamentals of make-up, color theory and coordination, sanitation and hygiene, highlights and shadows, cuts and bruises and more. At the conclusion of this program, students will take home a photo portfolio of their work.

Each student will receive a Student Stage Make-up Kit and Severe Trauma Kit to use at camp and enjoy at home.

Creating Effects: Advanced Make-Up Techniques: FREAK SHOW

Dates: July 22–26 | 1–4:30 p.m.
Ages: 15–18
Tuition: $185 + $75 materials fee
Location: MainStage Dressing Rooms at Proctors
Experience: Intermediate to Advanced

Presented by THE MAKEUP CURIO

This camp dives into the world of a “Freak Show” and takes basic theatre makeup to the next level. Students will learn advanced makeup techniques suitable for both stage and film by creating character looks such as a reptilian man, bearded lady and tattooed person.  A true makeup artist doesn’t just paint themselves, but models, actors and clients. This camp allows students to explore the feeling of an artist by applying makeup on each other, with prosthetics, hair and more. Materials fee includes products used in class and to take home at the end of the week.
