Film & Media Programs

Skill based training, internships, and apprenticeship opportunities in film, music, and video. 

Proctors hosts several film, music and video programs throughout the year, offering skill- based training, internships and apprentice opportunities for youth. In addition, Proctors is home to Open Stage Media television, providing an outlet to showcase the work done by the next generation of media-makers.

MediaWorks is an Arts-in-Education program designed to integrate media arts with Common Core curriculum to create new pathways for student success. Proctors is working with area high schools to integrate media arts into English Language Arts curriculum. A professional media artist works with a team of teachers to develop and implement new learning pathways, based on Common Core standards and Project-Based Learning, to increase student engagement, attendance, and success. Told By Us Productions aims to strengthen communities via productions of music and films that explore social issues from the perspective of high school students. Participation in the program motivates students to perform well academically while fostering their creativity and opening doors for future career opportunities. Register for 2017-2018 Session

Reel Adventures gives students the chance to bring their imaginations out from behind the lens and onto the big screen. The young filmmakers will receive hands-on experience in making their short films in a collaborative setting. By the end of the two-weeks, these young filmmakers will gain the experience on how to direct, act on the screen, produce, edit, shoot, and all the other behind-the-scenes magic that shapes a film from an original idea all the way to a blockbuster.

This program provides a practical foundation for filmmaking skills including lighting, camera composition, and editing. Students will take on full responsibility for their projects as they work in small collaborative settings to develop the script, storyboard, and then shoot & edit the project. Also, students learn about the various ways to distribute and promote their work both online and through various film festivals.
