Young Playwrights

Playwright Jaimie Gaskell sits in on a rehearsal for a play she wrote as it's performed by students in the Summer Stage Young Acting Company program at theREP in Albany Thursday, July 27, 2017. Gaskell has been one of the winners of the Young Playwright Contest for the last three years.

Young writers’ words brought to life.

Winners of the Young Playwright Contest don’t just write a script and walk away.  They’re involved, step-by-step, as the actors and producers interpret their writing.

They ask questions.

Their writing is challenged.

And then they watch as words and scenes that formed in their heads come to life on stage.
